Beechworth, located within the Shire of Indigo, is well known for its links to the Kelly era. Many historic buildings have direct links to Ned Kelly including the Courthouse, where Ned was committed to stand trial for murder. Ned Kellys mother, Ellen was also tried here for attempted murder in 1878.

Chiltern also located in Indigo Shire has links to the Kelly era.  The buildings associated to the Kellys are the Courthouse, Old Police Station which is now a private residence and Standish Lodge which is now the Masonic Lodge.
