Two significant Kelly sites are located within the Rural City of Wangaratta including:

• Glenrowan - where the infamous 'Kelly Siege' occured on June 28, 1880 when Ned led Joe Byrne, Dan Kelly and Steve Hart against a formidable police force sent to put an end to Ned's plan to create the 'Republic of North East Victoria' and
• Power's Lookout - affording spectacular views down the King Valley and over the hamlet of Whitfield, where Ned learnt his bushranging skills from the notorious Harry Power.
